Magic mornings…

I've been meditating for nearly three decades.

I started out doing it occasionally when I felt tense, but over the years, it gradually became part of my daily life.

Most mornings, I get up early, light a few candles, and sit in silence. Sometimes I put on meditative music or listen to the sound of a waterfall or a crackling fire. I rarely go a day without this little ritual.

The great Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, once said, "If I don't finish my meditation, I tend to get a little cranky!" :) And you know what? He was onto something.

Meditation has become one of the simplest ways for me to reset my energy, quiet my mind, and smooth out some of the creases of everyday life. And that's the beauty of it. You don't need much to get started.

Just take a few minutes to sit.

Breathe.

Listen.

Let your thoughts come and go without getting too involved with them.

You can focus on your breathing, a repetitive sound, or simply the feeling of being present before you jump into all the activities and thoughts of the day.

Don't worry if your mind doesn't become perfectly quiet. That's not really the point. With practice, you simply become better at creating a little space between yourself and all that mental noise.

And sometimes, in that space, something shifts.

You feel calmer. Clearer. More connected to yourself.

For me, this is where the magic happens.
